ResinObsession web site is now alive!

11-5-08 I spent most of the afternoon and evening yesterday populating the new ResinObsession website http://www.resinobsession.com/servlet/StoreFront. I think it looks pretty good, how about you? I did goof tho, as usual, I switched domain servers without immediately taking care of my email...oooops! I wondered why I didn't get many emails over the weekend. I thought everyone was just so busy with the election they weren't ordering anything!

I saw Fran with Little-Windows at the Quilt Show again this year. Her booth has doubled, her samples were clever and if the crowd around her booth is any sign.... I would say she is doing well. Congrats Fran!

Many of you have asked to see samples of some of my work and while a lot of it is off with vendors for shows or waiting pictures to be made in to kits, I've taken a few pictures of some pieces. Remember I'm not a photographer or very good at picture editing.



The coral and silver beads necklace and matching bangle doesn't show up as the true color but it's close enough.

Deep Well Bezel Ring Jewelry Resin Silver Taking Orders

I've spoken with the ring manufacturer and he is sold out. He will be shipping around the end of October for orders that are placed now. The rings have been so popular that I am taking paid orders and putting them on a waiting list. I talked to the manufacturer on Tuesday and since I will be placing such a large order I will be one of the first to receive my shipment. After filling paid orders I doubt there will be any leftover. I'm suggesting artists place advance orders with delayed shipping. Deposits will be required for advance orders. By advance orders I mean: some artists will be at Gift Shows so to fill their order they may need 50 rings in March, 50 in April, etc.

So many have asked about a quantity discount: 20 rings for $160, 30 rings for $225, 40 rings for $280, 100 rings for $600. Orders placed now; the beginning of October are scheduled for shipping the end of October. If you would like to be assured availability after the end of October shipping, it is wise to place advance orders with later shipping dates. Advance orders will need a deposit. These handmade rings have been so popular worldwide that the manufacturer is sold out! He is increasing production. Because I have asked for such a large order I will be one of the first to receive my order but I won't place that order if I don't have orders to back it up.

Gloss Shine to Resin Jewelry Casting

OOOOOOOOO the age old question of how to get that high shine back. It's one of my most asked questions. I promise there is a dvd coming by the end of the year, I'm trying. There are two ways to get the high gloss back once you have sanded your casting. One is to "DIP" not brush but dip your sanded piece in a new batch of liquid resin. Now before you do this you need to put some packing tape or scotch tape on the back. Resin does not adhere to scotch tape and you will need this to peel off the little drips. At the very second the resin hardens it will hardened little drips on the back. Now with the tape on the back you can peel those little drips right off. Now for the second way will require some tools like a jewelers variable slow speed bench lathe or a bench grinder will work but most of them are too fast unless you are very experienced. You will melt your piece if one is too fast. You will need stitched and unstitched muslin buffing wheels, buffing and polishing compounds. This will give you the professional high gloss finish. There is a book that you can probably find at the library that has great pictures that shows the polish and buff process. "The New Jewelry Contemporary Materials & Techniques by Carles Codina". High Gloss Bangle
